Change or Die (Really Good Article)

I think this is the key quote:

"We like to think that change is motivated by fear and that the strongest force for change is crisis, which creates the greatest fear."

The author, of course argues that fear is not the greatest motivator.

Change or Die

Dr. Andrew Weil said fear is a great motivating factor.

He also said the desire to change goes away just as quickly as the fear that brought it on.

I believe…. as does Dr Weil that change must come from something deeper than a fear or a fear of dying. As if there could be something deeper from dying.

Change needs to come from something positive.

For example these two statements below show how a lasting change can be made and how to make a quick change and set up for failure or death.

I want to lose weight because it makes me feel better.

or

I want to lose weight because I am afraid of having a heart attack again.

I believe the more positive view is the way to go and make a lasting change.
