I though it was the most wonderful video until I realized it was from DOVE-the-company. And DOVE is owned by Unilever – a huge corporation that also, among other things, makes Slim-Fast! That’s right - those nasty tasting shakes that are supposed to help you loose weight after you have way too many pints of Cherry Garcia (also made by Unilever). This video is just like one of those anti-smoking ads paid for my cigarette companies. Bo-o-o-o-o-o-o.
You know, that was my reaction. Once I realized it was Dove soap, I was immediately suspect.
That said, it is still a powerful clip. It definitely speaks to concerns I have as a parent. As our daughters get older we have less control of what the see and learn about body image....
I guess that even if I find the messenger suspect, it's still a good message.
Well, I know I have a beautiful daughter and I am confident that she knows that.
The only thing I know about Dove is that they make awesome dark chocolate.
I think large corporations can function sort of like large government agencies...they may be run by someone you don't agree with but there are probably pockets of good work getting done anyway. I'll chalk this up to one of those instances.
Are these the people who make the actual doves? Because they're quite nice birds.
